A field tech has come out and torn most of the dash apart, which I fear will actually be very bad when it is put all back together. They may cure one rattle, but create 5 new ones. It's taken so long because a part they want to replace has been on backorder.

Next, on the steering wheel, the track advance switch (the left one) has developed a weird smooshy feeling in. It happened one morning after the car sat outside in cold temperatures. It stuck a little bit and then broke free and has been soft and weird feeling ever since.

My car has a rough 1-2 upshift when cold, it is less pronounced but still present when hot. There's also a weird throttle delay. When driving at speed with your foot off the gas and then you slowly press the throttle to accelerate, I feel two "jerks" in the car. One feels like the injectors coming back on and then the second, about 1/4 - 1/2 second later, is the car responding to the throttle input. No other car I have owned recently had this problem. I believe related to this delay is a similar problem at idle. When the engine is at operating temperature, in park at idle, foot off gas. If you slowly apply throttle pressure, I can see the engine RPMs jump from idle (about 650 RPM) to about 1000 RPM, with no smooth increase; it just goes from 650 to 1000 without anything in between.

Lastly, I still have a steering wheel shimmy/vibration that happens on smooth roads between 65-75MPH. Dealer has balanced the tires, but still no fix. I wrote an actual letter to top Kia management back in late January about this issue and never received a response. I eventually wrote an email to another person and they put me through to an escalation specialist, however that person has been a bit of a flake and unresponsive. It is clear that Kia doesn't have a customer focus, especially for someone who has bought their most expensive car. If their management won't respond to a customer's written letter, that's very telling of how they run the company in my opinion.

So, I think Kia still has work to do on this car. I don't see myself keeping it in the long run -- probably no more than 2-3 years. At this point, unless something substantial changes, Kia and by extension Hyundai, are off my list of car manufacturers to look at next time I am in the market.

Sorry man sound like you got the bad one apple of the bunch. It took a few days but I found my dash rattle was the sunglasses holder. Sunglasses were just rattling about in the holder. I also have some weird throttle thing that has show up intermittently so I thought it was normal or just the boost building back up. For me, during a low speed turn if I come off the gas and then get back on it, the throttle does not respond immediately. That in turn prompts you to naturally give it a bit more gas, when throttle catches up you get unintended over acceleration.

I've had none of the problems that bverent describes.

I am as well. I have the same throttle delay issue you speak of. It doesn't appear Kia has done much testing of their throttle and transmission driving characteristics in the K900. I have grown a major distaste for turbo-charged engines.

I pretty much endorse what bverant says here about throttle response, and mine's a '16, so it seems like a problem left over from the previous (non-turbo) generation.

I never feel 100% confident what I'm going to get when I need to squirt out into traffic from a low speed. Sometimes response is quick and sometimes there's a sort of hesitation, and the transmission almost always needs a few seconds to think before doing much. And the shifts can be very noticeable under these conditions.

I think it's just suboptimal programming. There's a lot of electronics between you and the road nowadays.

Ditto the throttle respsonse, mine is MY'15. I think this has more to do w/ the transmission programming, and/or perhaps the learning pattern in the throttle mapping. I'm usually gentle with the car, no sudden throttle movements (the exact opposite of a POV youtube test drive video if you ever saw one). Could it be that the throttle mapping has gotten used to my driving style and on occasion when I need to punch it, it hesitates thinking that's not the normal style the car has been subjected to...

bverant: sorry to hear about the rattle situation. Did the dealer give you a loaner during the month your K900 was in the shop? It's not uncommon in any new model intro, the 1st year or so contains some more troublesome specimens and yours might be one of those...

On rattles: even the most expensive cars tend to have hard plastic interior parts (e.g. the aforementioned sunglass holder, the lower door pockets, or in some cases the glove box. I usually wrap the rattle-prone items in small towels or (if anal), line the inside with felt.

On a happier note: one of the chrome wheels on my K900 was flaking off, the dealer was kind enough to contact Kia and they gave me a new one to swap out, totally free of charge, no deductible, no labor. Wuhoo...

Unlike bverant, my next car will most likely be either a Hyundai or Kia; just can't beat the value proposition. I've had European sedans/SUVs in the past, and liked them a lot (styling, quite elegance...); but they make you pay for everything extra. A $50k sedan doesn't even come w/ standard safety features (Porsche is the worst!!). As I grow older, I am able to look past the badge and am perfectly content w/ my K900 (especially when bought used).

Tip: some new Kias come w/ the SD card slot in the dash and some don't. I'd look out for my next one and ensure it has said slot; that's where they can perform software upgrades. My dealer said had my MY'15 came w/ the slot, they would've been able to upgrade my infotainment to use CarPlay/DroidAuto...

You don't need the SD card. My 2015 Sonata was updateable from USB also. Infact that's how they upgraded people who bought it before Carplay was ready. User download

Thanks, Bob, good to know. Learned something.

I was checking the UVO website, looks like my MY'15 (manufactured in 2014) is not eligible for Android auto. Sad...

I have been in a 2018 Sorento loaner since March 15th. It's a fine vehicle and, to be honest, I prefer the easier entry/exit of the SUV to the sedan. To be clear: my dealer has been absolutely great. I have been working exclusively with the service manager on all of my issues since day one. He's been very accommodating, pushing several of my concerns directly to Kia technical support. I really can't ask anymore of a dealership as they can only do what Kia gives them the support to do. My beef is with Kia Motors of America (KMA) and their apparent lack of concern for my issues.

I wanted to point out one more thing with my 2019 K900: there are two albeit small factory paint flaws on the hood. They look like the paint itself was slightly smeared or had a run prior to the clearcoat being applied. The dealer did offer to repaint the entire hood, which I am holding off for now. I am more concerned with paint mismatch than the flaw at this time.

Knowing my luck, I probably got the junker of the lot; the one that is destined to have problem after problem.

Wow this looks awesome! Where did you get those? Was the process of removing and putting the new ones on difficult? Didn't know this is offered from a 3rd party.
