2013 Optima Hybrid EX “Hybrid System Warning”
I purchased my Optima last March with 46k on it. It now has 73k on it. I have the extended warranty I purchased until 100k. I was driving to get my oil change. I get it changed every 5000 miles with synthetic oil. I get a warning on my dash 5 minutes into my drive “Hybrid System Warning Safely Stop and do not Drive” Needless to say the car ended up shutting itself off and wouldn’t turn back on. Towed it to the dealership and it’s been 2 weeks currently. They tried to blame it on a fender bender that I got into in the back. License plate bolt damaged the bumper nothing else. They tried replacing a generator and a tensioner pulley. That had no luck. They are now trying to replace the Hybrid Computer Power Unit. They are saying it will be another 2 weeks just for the part and they are refusing to give me a rental car or loaner car for the inconvenience. Anyone run into an issue with this? They are saying that this part is being covered by Kia and not my extended warranty. I’m unsure of what to do next I can’t live without a car for much longer.
