Default Underhood cleaning

My car is pretty dusty under the hood. Of course, I mean on all the engine covers, since you can't see the engine.

Would it be safe to just hose it off, do you think? Anybody tried?

Funny enough, mine was the same way a few weeks ago. All I did was get some automotive degreaser, soaked the entire engine bay and waited like 5 mins. I went to a self serve car wash and used their power washer, not pressing the trigger so that it was fully pressurized, but enough to blast it all away. Then very importantly, bring a leaf blower and blow the engine dry so that no water gets on the electronics. Once dry I applied 303 Marine Aerospace Protectant, which makes it look clean as **** after it dries matte.

Thanks for the info. Very specific and helpful! Would be interesting to see a picture of the results.
