Default radar in the rain

Well, I've finally run across a glitch that's a bit more than slightly aggravating.

The front park sensor beeped and showed a warning after I left the car wash a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't think too much of it. Today we had a real rainstorm, and driving through that made it go nuts. It told me to clean the radar sensor and flashed the dash light that shows one car rearending another one. (I hadn't noticed that light before.)

Has anybody else experienced this? And where is that sensor, anyway? Is it the two round things in the bumper?

if it is those bumper sensors, they shouldn't be affected by rain I wouldn't think. I've not had that problem and can't think of another area where a sensor would be to serve the front park sensing feature. I've certainly driven in some hellatious rain storms also.

Were you able to fix this issue?

There hasn't been another heavy rain here (at least that I had to get out in), so I have to admit I've been ignoring the issue.

I discussed this with the dealer during my 7500 mile checkup. I felt like they were putting some dealer doublespeak on me, to tell the truth. They told me that the sensors were fine but it was giving the warning because I was also too close to the lane line on the road.

I don't think so. The lane departure system shows a different picture entirely when it goes off, but, what could I say? I can't make it do it on command.

Since I've had the car, actually, the issue with rain sensitivity seems to be lessening. However, it occasionally gives me a collision warning when I'm sitting still in traffic, which is weird.

The dealer did point out that there are four proximity sensors in the front bumper (somehow I had overlooked two) and said they should be kept clean, which is undoubtedly good advice.

But overall, no progress on this front. (Ha, got me a pun in there, at least!)

My ACWS would illuminate for about 5 to 10 mins and go off again in heavy rain on the Cadenza and Genesis. I am sure they use the exact same units. It will go off for about 20 mins and throw the warning again. I have just gotten used to this issue.

Carl3208, do you mean that little picture of a rearend collision in the dash? I ask because THAT lighted up for me in a rainstorm a few days ago. Went away again pretty shortly.

Completely different from the problem I posted up above. That one was the proximity sensor--like when you drive up to something when you're parking, only I was sitting still.

I am talking about the 1st one I mentioned. I get false triggers for proximity at stoplights. My wife will joke and say there are ghost walking in between the cars.

Only the K900 can boast automatic ectoplasm detection! Especially useful on Halloween.
