Hi,

Is there anyone tried to modify OEM exhaust system? Car is pretty quick with V8 but I feel like I am missing some noise... Resonator bypass X-Pipe or something? Sports Headers? I tried google but came up with empty hands...

Anyone with a blacked out one also? I am thinking about doing it.

Thank you

I am looking at changing the system down the line. Do not want it to sound like a overly done mustang or magnum, just to bring out the V8 sound you can hear in the cabin.

On my past Sorento's I had a professional shop do the work, they would weld on the new pipes and change the muffler.

On my last Sorento I was going to go with a double end tip that I was thinking might look good to replace the oval outlets, any thoughts?

The 2 mufflers unbolt from the pipes under the car...they can be removed in about 15 minutes.. If your going for sound they're ya go. No $$$$ spent took them off of a cadenza for a customer...sounded really good... The v8 would sound better

Wouldn't think so.. They sounded good on the cadenza... 3.3 v6 but if you are correct then it takes another 15 to bolt back on.. (After it cools) just a lil friendly advice???

Well I will give that a try for kicks, and thank you about the tip to wait, can not promise but will try to remember.

Last couple KIA's I had done each came around $500-$600, I expect this one will be more if there is 2 mufflers. Are they on different pipes or to mufflers on a single pipe. I know the '14 Sorento had a HUGE muffler and a Resonator on it.

Does anyone know if there are 2 catalytic converters or only 1?

Can see I have not spent time under the body.

I stopped into the exhaust shop that does all my work today. I explained that I want to hear more of the "throaty" V8 but not wanted to sound like I was going to enter NASCAR, so K9 was up the in air and I got a tour.

Because I do not want to go max out at first he recommended that first we do not replace the stock pipes and simply cut out the center muffler, leaving the two end mufflers at first. Kind of what Canine recommended.

He will first let me hear what it sounds like directly out of the engine, no mufflers, then but in 2 straight pipes to replace the inner muffler.

Told me once that is done to give is a couple weeks and if we want to increase the sound we can tweak the end stock mufflers with some high flow. I really do do not think we will go this far as I also do not want the sound in the cabin to increase.

I will post vids and pictures as the work is done later.
