So after the order is placed, they ask for the VIN number? I would be curious how they lock it, or if it is just recorded on their end of which cars have gotten the update i.e. no difference in the actual update.

Map saga continued... My first post here. Thanks to all that have contributed to this. I bought my Blue on White VIP 2015 K900 this past November with 168 miles on it. It had been a training vehicle for KIA. The software was from 2013/2014. The mnsoft update wasn't available for the 2015 until about 4 weeks ago. I assume they pulled it to tweak it due to all of the issues documented here, so I was hopeful when I downloaded it today. Sadly, after the update installation, I had the same problem as others: a frozen display.

Solution: After 30 minutes of ignition on/off and pushing the reset button every way imaginable, I pressed the reset button and killed the ignition during the reset (before it could display the frozen KIA/UVO screen). On the next start the system booted properly.

Hope this helps. Really enjoying my K900!

Glad you got going, chill. This process does seem to be unreasonably buggy.

Very cool. My entire area only has two known K900s.

What I don't understand is how a 2015 Kia Soul can get the Android Auto update, but not the 2015 K900?
Just having that screen go away might be worth it to me. I'd probably update if they added Android Auto. My phone is my GPS. Not sure why manufacturers still think, better yet, why some are still willing to pay for navigation software that has to be updated. If it was updated over the air, "maybe".

New owner of '15 K900. Any idea if Kia will upgrade this system with current systems (androidauto, carplay)?

Me as well. I'd happily pay for it!

If you have a 2015, no. That system is not compatible (unknown as to why). 2016+ yes, it can be upgraded and KIA offered it for free. Is that your white one I saw driving around, or the only other black one I have seen around in AZ?

As far as my research goes, and I wrung things out pretty thoroughly before I bought, I don't think any of the first-gen cars can get Android Auto or CarPlay regardless of year.

Here's a list of eligible models and there is no K900 on it:

Eligible Kia Vehicles for The Apple CarPlay Update

I did think I hit pay dirt at last with the video below, which really says it pertains to CarPlay on the K900, but if you watch closely, you'll see that they open with a shot of the K900 dash but at about one minute in, they switch off to another model that has buttons like "Setup," which the K doesn't.

So barring some future development, I think all us 2015-2017 owners are out of luck in this regard.

Default Map and Nav updated to v12.5 with no problem

Just updated from map NA.07.43.43.004 and nav KH.USA.SOP.20140730.010 to v12.5, map NA.11.47.45.580 and nav KH.USA.SOP.20170426.016.

Entire process took 65 minutes. System rebooted fine. No problems. Burned up a few gallons of gas while idling for that long!
The new map appears to have all the road changes here in central Ohio up till early 2017
I don't know if it's relevant, but my K900 was built in March of 2015. I wonder if Kia had most of the issues found with the cars built in 2014 resolved by then? Thoughts?
