Default Free UVO?

Does anybody know if the free UVO service period transfers to subsequent owners?

UVO is always free. There is no subscription required.

The only regular use I find for UVO is the 'My POIs' app, as its similar to FCA's uConnect, where you have the app on your phone to quickly find your locations on the fly, and send them over to UVO's navigation app (since the nav system won't let you find anything new while driving).

I think there must be two levels of UVO. According to the factory brochures:

2015 - The UVO page says "there are no subscription fees."

2016 - This one references "UVO Luxury Services" delivered "through an embedded modem," such as remote start and unlock, and a few more things. It also says "there are no subscription fees for the first five years." (I take it the modem was new hardware this year.)

2017 - The same text pretty much is used over again, but the free period has been cut--"there are no subscription fees for the first three years."

Since I have no hardware to play with, I'm just sort of guessing, but all this reads to me like with the subscription you are paying for the cell service for that embedded modem to reach outside the car. If you don't renew, then you'll be cut back to whatever the phone app can do with the system via Bluetooth.

If I'm on the wrong track here, let me know. Still learning!

I find the Parking Minder function in UVO pretty useful when I need to park at the airport or other large and relatively unfamiliar place.

I ran across this article, which explains a bit about the two flavors of UVO.

What it doesn't say, and what I haven't been able to find out anywhere else, is how much the higher-level service costs after the free period expires.

K9; did you buy the black/white 2016? I didn't see a post that you did; if you bought, what do you think?

No news yet--still on its way to my local CarMax. They warn you it takes a while to ship one.

When there's news, the members here will be fully informed, I promise!
