Default eco mode

I drive almost entirely in city driving stop and go traffic and my gas mileage is about 14.5-15 mpg (US Gallon) .I wonder does eco mode help with city driving or freeway driving .The few times I have taken it on the freeways my mpg increases exponentially without using eco mode .I also notice that in the Pacific North west fog is an issue so I leave it on AUTO settings as the windows remain fog clear but it does cost me mileage.. I didn't buy this car to match my optima hybrid MPG but I would like to know what I can do without driving at 5 mph to increase my mileage ...HELP

I have had the Optima Hyprid and just used the same driving techniques driving the K9 to improve mpg. You can find you-tube where they talk about how the 2011 K5 set records for its mpg.

Eco is best on freeway and if you really want to get the best I found snow mode in city.

I have a Soul EV for my commuter not and have to say it's difficult with the V8 to drive like I use to in my K5. This car does not want to be held back.

It depends on you drive. I seen 7L/100 KM(32MPG) on my K900 in eco mode but, I was trying hard to get it low. Watching how I was accelerating and breaking, my average is 10.5L/100 KM(22 MPG) in normal mode. Mine you I do have the V6

Drove my K900 from South Carolina to Maryland last weekend.. 28.7 mpg I have the V8.. Very impressive.. I drive it in Eco around town and am averaging 18.5 to 20mpg all depending on traffic.

Slow acceleration, costing to a read light, try to aticapate a red light and coast to try and never come to a full stop, let the other cars trip the light and use their gas idling at the light.
Check tire pressure at least once a month, can't remember if it's when the tires are cold or warm, I think cold. Park heading out position so you do not have to back out and then leave, this last one is kind of silly but every bit helps.

This is a few things I learned driving with my KOH.

driving like that and I have been able to get up to 16-18 mpg in city, might get better as I have more time with K9, odd I only found a difference with ECO mode on the Freeway, in city not really as much.

Premium gas is around $2.50 a gal. right now where I live, the EV is in the shop and this car ((in my POV)) does not want to be driven like a Hybrid. So I feel "enjoy it" the low gas prices will not be around for ever and 13 mpg is not too bad.

Past couple days I have thinking about this again so I am trying something from when I drove stick shift and that is to put the car in neutral. I was very surprised how easy it is with the shift by wire to do so and how far the K9 will go before I needed to up it in gear again. Just doing this simple thing I was able to bring the instant mpg up to 16.5 on sport mode. Will keep on doing it till next tank and see if there is an overall difference
