Default a couple more weirdities

Since I have my navigation system going, I have more menu choices now, and since I have no idea what I'm doing, the results are interesting.

I turned on "Curve alert," just to see what it would do--I thought it would maybe beep or show something in the HUD, but it didn't. So I kind of forgot about it until days later I was getting on the Interstate at a cloverleaf, and it suddenly says through the speakers, "Curve ahead!" Which startled me badly because I wasn't expecting it. I may turn that one back off.

I may have clicked something on this too, but I don't remember it. Now the radio volume goes way down when I put it in reverse. I don't see any use in this at all--if it beeps when I get close to something I could always hear that fine over the radio. Anybody know how I can turn this one off?

There's always something new to learn!

I noticed this as well ever since I installed the map upgrade. I don't recall it happening before the update.

I'm glad you said that, joellischynski. I was really racking my brain trying to recollect how I did that. Since you don't remember either, I think the update does it automatically.

I did get it turned off, though. It's in the center screen settings--I forgot already exactly what it said, but there's a choice something like "Reverse Warning Volume," with a checkmark. When I unchecked that, the radio went back to normal.

Another one--you can't use any of the 12 volt plugs with the ignition off. Never had a car like that before.

It's aggravating when I just want to plug in my little 12V vacuum and do a quick cleanup.

I've noticed that in almost all newer cars (since about 2014 or so) the 12v plugs are unpowered when the ignition is off. It may be in order to prevent the battery from being drained, especially given the electrical load newer cars put on the battery.

What map upgrade and how do you get it? Does it add new features? Thanks

K9hundy--you probably already noticed, but there's a ton of map update info here:

https://www.k900forum.com/forum/new-...p-update-4577/

I think we ran down all the issues on that subject, finally.

But speaking of more weirdities--are the A/C vents in the center pillars only for looks? I swear I never feel anything coming out back there, even with the fan turned up.

Go to mapnsoft.com for map updates.
The little turn control knobs, on the vent, turn the air on , off or controlling how much air comes out

no air from mine either; you can see a feeder air line in the front doors but no air from mine that I can feel. my dealer didn't know either! wish they produced some air; I know Lexus has similar vents which also produce little to no air based on a loaner I've had from them.
