Default No Apple CarPlay upgrade?

One would think for the flagship the K9 would have the latest sound system, although the system in my K9 reminds me is the system that was in my 2011 Sorento.

Recently I upgraded my 2016 Soul EV to include Apple CarPlay and Android play, fee upgrade downloaded from the myUVO site. Several models were listed but not the K9??

Am I missing something? Could the next map upgrade have this feature as well or is it because the OS on the K9 headunit is outdated?

I wondered about that as well. One would think the flagship would have priority over updates like that. However i noticed in out 2017 Sorento SXL that we can only use one or the other. As in when Android auto is engaged you can't use the vehicle Navigation at the same time. So this may be why the K9 won't get the update. Just a thought.

I've seen videos on youtube where there is some chinese company that lets you mirror your android phone on old UVO systems (not like android auto) I wonder if they would work on the K9?

2016 and up K900 get AA & CarPlay. '15 K900 misses out. Same with '14-'16 Cadenza - no AA & CarPlay, while '17+ get them.

2016 and 2017 K900's do not have CarPlay or Android Auto, unfortunately. Since Kia has gone on to a differernt system for the 2019 (remember there was no 2018 in the US), I doubt those will ever be retrofitted.

Others here have said updating the firmware brings in AA & CarPlay for '16+ K900

I would love to be proven wrong, but I've looked into this pretty intensely since I have a '16 and I've come up totally dry.

I have not been able to find any documentation showing CP and AA being on the first-gen K. The car is absent from all lists of compatible Kias I could find on the net. It's also not mentioned in the manual for the nav system, or the factory brochure for the car, and when I upgraded to map version 12 last year, I didn't gain that capability.

I have found several reviews that specifically commented on this--here's a review that only gave 4 out of 10 stars for technology on that account: https://www.motor1.com/reviews/25286...a-k900-review/

So if anybody out there on the party line knows the secret on this, please post and gain the undying gratitude of us '16 & '17 owners. But I'm pretty sure we're locked out on this.

I went looking, and it seems I was thinking of the addition of signs in the HUD that comes with the update. I thought for sure it also included AA & CarPlay, but it appears I was wrong.

Sorry about that.

Oh, signs! Yeah, boy howdy, did that update bring signs! They seemed to spring up like mushrooms all over the dash. But they cluttered up the HUD way too much, so I kicked them out of there.
